Arletha M. Ryan is an oil painter and a printmaker.
My art work is created in the still gap between perception and interpretation. It takes a silent mind for the beauty to appear to me. I address abstracted beauty, the essence of fruit and the immediacy of landscapes.
Primarily I paint with oil paintings on linen, panel or paper. In addition, I make both woodblock prints (the Portland Bridges) and monotype prints.
I create because I have to. I have no choice in the matter. I invite you to look and enjoy the creativity, beauty, joy and aliveness that my work conveys.
